Glen Park Primary School

Success for all, through learning together

Little Buddies Preschool

As a parent, your child’s well-being is paramount – and it is equally important to us. At Little Buddies Pre-school, part of Glen Park Primary, we endeavour to provide a stimulating, safe and nurturing environment that enables children to thrive as they learn through their play.

Joining Pre-school is an exciting moment in a child’s life, preparing them for the journey onto school. Our Pre-school room is set up with a variety of learning areas and resources enabling children to access the whole early years curriculum. For example we have a role play area to enhance children’s imaginative play. There is lots of creative media set up for the children to select that allows them to develop independence and provides opportunity for their own creative ideas to flourish. We also offer lots of mark making and fine motor experiences which are important to assist writing as they reach school age.

Our activities and learning areas involve:

  • Listening to stories, exploring books, joining in with singing, music and movement sessions.
  • Story telling with puppets and story bags.
  • Sensory play with sand, water, play-dough, gloop and slime!
  • Construction activities with open ended resources.
  • An investigation area to develop children’s understanding of the world.
  • Opportunities to develop their physical skills such as climbing.
  • And much more!

Our Pre-school has a covered free flow area that allows the children to access the outdoor area in all weathers. They also benefit from an extensive playground area with climbing areas, a space for trikes to be ridden, circle games and group games to be played, a mud kitchen and climbing apparatus. We also have the large field and woods which we can explore and often go for walks!

We also have a calming sensory space with sleep mats where children can nap if needed. If your child is naps you will be informed how long they slept for and they will be comforted when going to sleep and waking up. We also have strict measures in place to support safe sleeping and your child will be regularly checked on by a member of staff when sleeping.

Little Buddies is managed by Mrs Laura Brown who is a qualified teacher. All other staff hold appropriate early years qualifications to National Vocational Qualification at level 3.

The Pre-School operates both funded and non-funded sessions, as well as a lunch club.
